Spectrum Books Private Ltd was born in 2001 when it took over from Spectrum India—a publishing firm that was set up in 1990, in a very small way, with just one book in print but which very soon carved a niche for itself in the publishing world. Continuing the tradition of Spectrum India, Spectrum Books Private Ltd has been bringing out well-researched books for the highly intelligent and discriminating readers preparing for the civil services examinations set by the UPSC and the state public service commissions. 

We publish books both in English and Hindi on various academic subjects that are also part of the syllabus of the civil services examination and other examinations like the UGC-NET/JRF. The objective is to present the reader with well-researched and concisely written books on a wide range of subjects—geography, history and culture, polity, economy, social issues, science and technology, etc. Books on literature have been brought out under the series LITSCAN. There are also specific exam-oriented books comprising practice questions and solved papers. All the publications are noted for their systematic approach, simple language, and lucid style, so that both serious students and lay readers with an interest in broadening their general awareness may find them of use.
